Submission criteria
The rules
- Videos must be under 8 minutes.
- Eligible videos are published between 1 January 2026 and 7 March 2027, or not yet published.
- Anyone can participate — budget, label and names are not determining factors.
- Submitters must possess all necessary permissions and rights to the submitted content.
- Every applicant is entitled to 5 guest-list places at the 3-day festival, for every video submitted.
- Submitting does not automatically grant a nomination in any category.
- Information about submitted videos may be published by BMVA without further notice.
- BMVA does not guarantee that a submitted video will be shortlisted for the event.
Eligibility window: published between 1 January 2026 and 7 March 2027, or unpublished. Max length: under 8 minutes.

Deadlines
15 Nov 2026
Early Bird deadline
Submit early for the lowest entry fee. Eligible videos may be unpublished or published from 1 January 2026 onward.
7 Feb 2027
Regular deadline
Standard submission window for the 14th edition.
7 Mar 2027
Late deadline
Final cut-off to submit. Videos must be published before 7 March 2027, or be previously unpublished. Maximum length: under 8 minutes.
7 Apr 2027
Final nominations announced
The official 2027 nominees across all categories are revealed.
10–12 Jun 2027
Festival & Awards Ceremony
Three days of screenings, live performances, workshops, fashion, the glittering carpet and networking at Gretchen Club, Berlin — culminating in the awards ceremony.
The jury & nominations. An independent jury reviews every submission. Final nominations are announced on 7 April 2027. Submitting does not guarantee a nomination or a screening slot.
